Answered by Rocha's General Construction · Updated

Do you give free estimates?

Yes. We come out, look at the job with you, and give you a written number before anything starts. No obligation.

Sí, hablamos español. Puede llamarnos o enviarnos el formulario en español para pedir un presupuesto gratis por escrito. Yes, we speak Spanish. Call or send the form in Spanish to ask for a free written estimate.

How long will my project take?

A roof repair can be a day. A full re-roof is usually one to three days. A kitchen or bathroom remodel runs several weeks, and an addition or new home runs months. You get a timeline with the estimate and we tell you when it changes.

Do you handle permits?

We tell you what the City of Beaumont or your county requires for the job and we handle the permit process on the work we do.

Do you work with insurance claims?

We document the damage, write a scope your adjuster can read, and do the repair. The claim is between you and your insurer; we make sure the work matches what was approved.

What areas do you serve?

Beaumont and the surrounding towns across Jefferson, Hardin and Orange counties in Southeast Texas.

Build

Build Questions

Build services
Do you build on my lot?

Yes. We build on land you own. We start with a site visit to check drainage, access and flood zone before pricing.

New Construction
Do you provide house plans?

Plans come from a designer or engineer. We can help you find one and work with them so the plan fits your budget and your lot.

New Construction
Does my new home need a windstorm inspection?

In Jefferson County, yes, if you want TWIA coverage. The inspections happen during construction and the homeowner or builder arranges them with a TDI-appointed inspector, and we build so the work is ready for each inspection.

New Construction
Who does the plumbing and electrical?

Licensed plumbers, electricians and HVAC contractors. We coordinate with licensed trades and keep their work on schedule.

New Construction
Do I need plans for an addition?

Yes. Permits require them. A residential designer can draw a simple addition. Larger or more complex additions usually involve an engineer. We can help you find the right one.

Home & Room Additions
How long does an addition take?

A single room is often two to four months from permit to finish. Larger additions take longer. Permit review and weather are the biggest variables.

Home & Room Additions
Can you match my brick or siding?

We match as closely as current products allow. Brick is the hardest; sometimes a siding accent at the addition looks better than a near-miss brick match.

Home & Room Additions
Does my addition need a windstorm inspection?

In Jefferson County, yes, if you want TWIA coverage. Inspections happen during framing. Outside Jefferson County it does not apply.

Home & Room Additions
Do you do tenant finish-outs?

Yes. Framing, sheetrock, ceilings, doors, flooring, millwork and paint, with licensed trades for electrical, plumbing and HVAC.

Commercial Construction
Can you work while my business is open?

Often, yes. We phase the work, build temporary walls, and schedule noisy work after hours when needed.

Commercial Construction
Do you provide the plans?

No. Commercial plans come from your architect or designer. We build to the approved drawings and can recommend people to talk to.

Commercial Construction
Are you set up for Beaumont commercial permits?

The City of Beaumont requires contractor registration and bonding for permitted work. We confirm our standing for your job before we bid.

Remodel

Remodel Questions

Remodel services
How long does a kitchen remodel take?

A refresh can take one to two weeks. A full remodel with new cabinets and counters usually runs several weeks, longer if walls move. Material lead times are the biggest variable.

Kitchen Remodeling
Can I use my kitchen during the remodel?

Not for most of it. We can help you set up a temporary sink and counter in another room so you can still make coffee and simple meals.

Kitchen Remodeling
Can you take out the wall between my kitchen and living room?

Often, yes. If it is load bearing, a beam has to be sized and installed correctly, and we bring in the right professional to size it before we cut.

Kitchen Remodeling
How long does a bathroom remodel take?

A hall bath update can take one to two weeks. A full tile shower remodel usually takes two to four weeks, depending on repairs found at demo and material lead times.

Bathroom Remodeling
Can you convert my tub to a walk-in shower?

Yes. It is one of the most common bath jobs we price. We remove the tub, rebuild the floor and walls, and install a waterproofed tile or solid-surface shower.

Bathroom Remodeling
Do you build accessible bathrooms?

We build aging-in-place features like low-curb showers, wider doors, blocking for grab bars and comfort-height toilets.

Bathroom Remodeling
Who handles the plumbing?

Licensed plumbers do all plumbing work. We coordinate with licensed trades and schedule the inspections.

Bathroom Remodeling
Can you match my wall texture?

Yes. We match orange peel, knockdown and smooth finishes and test on a small area first so you can see it before we do the whole patch.

Drywall & Sheetrock Repair
Why do my walls keep cracking?

Our clay soils move with wet and dry seasons, and houses move with them. We repair the cracks and will tell you if the pattern suggests a foundation specialist should look.

Drywall & Sheetrock Repair
Do you fix water-stained ceilings?

Yes, after the leak is stopped. Soft or sagging board gets replaced. Solid board gets a stain-blocking primer and fresh paint.

Drywall & Sheetrock Repair
Can you remove my popcorn ceiling?

Only after it is tested for asbestos, which is common in older ceilings. If the test is clean, we scrape, patch and refinish.

Drywall & Sheetrock Repair
How long does exterior paint last here?

That depends on prep, product and sun exposure. Good prep and quality acrylic paint last far longer than paint over mildew or bare wood. South and west walls wear fastest.

Interior & Exterior Painting
Do you repair rotted wood before painting?

Yes. We replace rotted trim, fascia and siding boards as part of the prep and list them in the estimate.

Interior & Exterior Painting
Can you paint my kitchen cabinets?

Yes, when the cabinet boxes are solid. We degrease, sand, prime with a bonding primer and apply durable finish coats.

Interior & Exterior Painting
My house was built in the 1960s. Is lead paint a concern?

It can be. Homes built before 1978 may have lead paint. We talk through safe prep with you before any scraping or sanding begins.

Roofing & Exterior

Roofing & Exterior Questions

Roofing & Exterior services
How long does a roof replacement take?

Most homes are torn off and re-roofed in one to three days, depending on size, pitch and how much decking needs to be replaced. Weather can push the start date.

Roof Replacement
Can you roof over my old shingles?

We tear off. A second layer hides rotten decking, adds weight, and holds heat. Starting from the deck is the only way to know what the roof is sitting on.

Roof Replacement
Do I need a windstorm inspection?

If the house is in Jefferson County and you want TWIA wind coverage, yes, a re-roof needs a TDI inspection during the job. Outside Jefferson County it does not apply.

Roof Replacement
How fast can you get to a leaking roof?

Call as soon as you see water. We try to look at active leaks within a day or two, and faster after a storm when we can. If the roof needs to be dried in before the permanent repair, we can tarp it.

Roof Repair
Can you match my existing shingles?

Usually close. We match brand, style and color when the product is still made. Shingles weather and fade, so a new section can look a little different at first and blends in over time.

Roof Repair
Do I need a permit for a roof repair in Beaumont?

The City of Beaumont requires permits for roof work, and we pull the permit on the jobs we do. Other cities like Port Arthur, Nederland and Orange run their own offices, and we check what yours requires.

Roof Repair
Will you tell me if I need a new roof instead?

Yes. If the shingles are brittle, curling or losing granules across the whole roof, patching buys little time. We give you both numbers in writing so you can decide.

Roof Repair
Should I choose Hardie or vinyl?

Fiber cement resists rot and termites and holds paint. Vinyl costs less and goes up faster. In our humidity, many owners choose fiber cement for the lower walls at least.

Hardie Plank Siding & Exterior Repair
Can you replace just a few boards?

Yes. We match profile and size as closely as current products allow and paint to blend.

Hardie Plank Siding & Exterior Repair
Do you treat termites?

No. A licensed pest control company treats. We repair the damaged wood after treatment.

Hardie Plank Siding & Exterior Repair
Do new windows need a windstorm inspection?

In Jefferson County, replacing whole window units falls under TDI windstorm rules if you want TWIA coverage. Outside Jefferson County it does not apply.

Hardie Plank Siding & Exterior Repair
How long does a new fence take?

A typical backyard privacy fence takes two to four days, including time for post concrete to set. Longer runs, pipe fence and gates add time.

Fence Installation & Repair
Pine or cedar?

Pine costs less. Cedar holds up better to rot and insects in our humidity and grays evenly if you leave it unstained. Both need good posts to last.

Fence Installation & Repair
Do you repair storm-damaged fences?

Yes. We replace broken posts, rails and pickets and reset leaning sections. After a hurricane we take calls in the order they come in, so call early.

Fence Installation & Repair
Do I need a permit for a fence?

In Beaumont, yes, and we pull it on the jobs we do. Other cities and HOAs have their own rules; we check before we build.

Fence Installation & Repair
Will my new concrete crack?

Almost all concrete cracks somewhere. Good base prep, reinforcement and properly spaced control joints keep cracks tight and the slab level. We do not promise a crack-free slab.

Concrete Driveways, Slabs & Patios
How soon can I drive on a new driveway?

Foot traffic in a day or two. Cars usually after about a week. Heavy trucks and trailers should wait longer. We give you dates on the job.

Concrete Driveways, Slabs & Patios
Can you pour a pad for my metal building?

Yes. We pour to the building manufacturer's anchor bolt and edge details, so bring the drawings to the estimate.

Concrete Driveways, Slabs & Patios
Do you need a permit for a driveway?

Work in the city right-of-way, like the approach and sidewalk, needs city approval in Beaumont, and fill in a floodplain needs a floodplain permit. We check your address and handle permits on the work we do.

Concrete Driveways, Slabs & Patios
Do you design house foundations?

No. House and addition slabs are poured to the plans for that building, prepared by the designer or engineer on the project.

Concrete Driveways, Slabs & Patios
Attached or freestanding patio cover?

Attached covers share the house roof and wall, look built-in and cost less in posts. Freestanding covers avoid tie-in leaks and suit pools and outdoor kitchens. We can price both.

Patio Covers, Decks & Porches
Composite or wood deck?

Treated pine costs less and needs regular stain. Composite costs more up front and needs little upkeep. Framing is treated lumber either way.

Patio Covers, Decks & Porches
Do I need a permit for a patio cover?

In Beaumont, yes. Other cities have their own rules, and many HOAs require approval. We check before we build and pull permits on our work.

Patio Covers, Decks & Porches
Can you add fans and lights?

We build the blocking and framing for them. Wiring is done by a licensed electrician, and we coordinate with licensed trades.

Patio Covers, Decks & Porches

Storm & Repair

Storm & Repair Questions

Storm & Repair services
Can you tarp my roof right after the storm?

Yes. Temporary tarping and board-up keep rain out until the permanent repair is scheduled. After a major hurricane, demand is heavy, so call early.

Storm Damage Repair
Will you deal with my insurance company for me?

No. Texas law does not allow a contractor to act as your adjuster. We document the damage, write a clear repair scope, and can meet the adjuster to show what we found. The claim is yours.

Storm Damage Repair
What if the tree is still on the house?

A tree service removes the tree. We can be there to secure the opening right after, then repair the framing, roof and ceiling.

Storm Damage Repair
Do you repair fences and siding too?

Yes. Most storm jobs touch the roof, fence and siding at once, and we handle all three.

Storm Damage Repair
Do you do water extraction and drying?

Our work starts once the structure is dry. We can point you toward the drying step and check moisture readings before we rebuild.

Water & Flood Damage Repair
What about mold?

Mold work covering more than 25 contiguous square feet is regulated in Texas and done by licensed mold professionals. We rebuild after that work is complete.

Water & Flood Damage Repair
How high do you cut the sheetrock?

That depends on how high the water came and how far it wicked up. Common cuts are 2 or 4 feet above the floor so full sheets can go back in cleanly.

Water & Flood Damage Repair
What flooring holds up best if it floods again?

Tile and luxury vinyl plank handle water far better than carpet, laminate or solid wood. We can price options side by side.

Water & Flood Damage Repair
Do you take small jobs?

Yes. Rot repair, door work, trim and inspection lists are a big part of what we do. We can often group small items into one visit.

Home Repairs & Wood Rot
Can you complete my home inspection repairs before closing?

Send us the report. We price the items we do, coordinate with licensed trades for the rest, and give you a written invoice and photos.

Home Repairs & Wood Rot
Why does rot keep coming back in the same spot?

Because the water source was never fixed. We look for the missing flashing, bad gutter or splash source and correct it with the repair.
